Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state initial examinations show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for details.
An important official said the vandalism left him without words and had to be solved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
